When it comes to breastfeeding in public, some people are a little more reserved than others. Also, some places are a little more relaxed about it than others too. So what is the deal with breast feeding in public and is it something that can be done easily or is it something which should never be done under any circumstances?

Public Breast Feeding

Unfortunately there are people against breast feeding in public. This is because in the society which we live in, we are brought up to learn that nudity is often shameful and even something as natural as breastfeeding can be seen as unsuitable. There is a certain public breastfeeding taboo where if you even dare to get your breast out in public to breastfeed, you will often be chastised by anybody nearby.

Whilst there is no real law against breastfeeding in public, many people will not do it simply because they are scared of the reaction that they will receive. Some public places do welcome breastfeeding and they even provide certain facilities for nursing mothers. However most of the time people do take a negative view if they do see you breast feeding your child in public. However if you think that people take a negative view whilst you are out breastfeeding your baby, just imagine how negative that view is when they see you breastfeeding your toddler in public!

So what can you do about this anti public breastfeeding view people take? The truth is that absolutely nothing can be done usually, but if you are stopped whilst breastfeeding it is thought that thanks to the law for breast feeding in public, you can try and get that person charged for sex discrimination.

You can find public breastfeeding photos online from people who have dared to bare their breasts in public. This may give confidence to some women who are thinking of breastfeeding in public if they have to. Public breastfeeding pictures may seem a little distasteful to some but they can be useful to those who are worried about breastfeeding in public.

Overall public breastfeeding may have a negative reaction but it is not really against the law in most countries. In some countries however you may have to double check that they are legalizing breast feeding in public before you actually go ahead and do it! At the end of the day if you have to breastfeed in public then there is nothing that you can do, but you will have to be prepared for a negative reaction.
