Breastfeeding is an incredibly important part of motherhood as it not only provides your baby with all of the right nutrients, but it also gives you the chance to bond with your baby too. However, as much as you may want it to be smooth sailing, sometimes problems do occur and breastfeeding support may be needed.

What is Breast Feeding Support?

Breastfeeding support could be anything from simply being given the information that you need about breastfeeding, to friends and family members being there for you. Breastfeeding can be a big deal and whether you need a little support or 24 hour breast feeding support, you can find it if you simply look for it.

Your main source of support will generally be friends and family. Your midwife and doctor will also be able to help you along the way too. However, sometimes they are simply just not enough and a trained volunteer may be of more assistance to you. The right breastfeeding support information and attitude is essential. If you end up with somebody who does not understand, it could send you into a state of depression and that will lead to further problems! So do the right amounts of research until you find some support which is suitable for your circumstances. Usually volunteers with various breastfeeding associations are trained mums themselves and so they know what it is like first hand to breastfeed.

In order to find out what support new mums feel that they need, breastfeeding associations sometimes send out a breastfeeding support customer survey. This will basically be given to see if you are impressed with the services and support offered to you and what else you may find helpful that is not currently being offered. By taking the time to complete these surveys you will not only be helping yourself but you will also be helping out others too.

Overall breastfeeding support is vital for many new mothers, especially in the very beginning. So if you are unsure of anything or you need help in any way do not be afraid to ask for it. If you do a quick search on the internet you will find many online groups and also support groups near you if you need them. Friends and family can be a godsend too so ask for their support whenever you need it. Breastfeeding is a natural thing yet it can be incredibly stressful and confusing so support is often needed.
