Breast cancer in younger women has become more and more popular as time has gone on. It used to only be a disease associated with mainly older women, but now the gap is steadily closing. Now breast cancer in women can occur at any age and there are more young women with breast cancer now than there ever has been before.

In women, breast cancer is the most deadly cancer around today and although the survival rate is increasing, so is the diagnosis rate.

There are a number of risk factors which affect whether you will develop the cancer or not, but generally experts do not know what causes some women to have the cancer and some women not to.

The breast cancer rate in Caucasian women is a lot higher than black women and breast cancer, though in black women the death rate is usually higher if they do develop the disease. Breast cancer in Native American women generally depends upon the area in which they are from. For example, Native American women in Mexico and Arizona tend to have a lower risk than white Native American women. Similarly breast cancer and African women tend to have fairly low rates too. It is not really known why there are race differences with the cancer but the fact remains that there are, and so it needs to be taken into account when looking at your risk factors of developing the disease.

Usually breast cancer in premenopausal women is unusual but there are cases of cancer affecting extremely young women. All types of breast cancer affect young women but inflammatory breast cancer in a young woman is one of the more common types of breast cancer to affect younger women.

When looking for the youngest woman with breast cancer you will see that no woman is too young to have the disease. It is sadly something that can affect women at any age and no matter whether you are looking at British women breast cancer rates or American women breast cancer rates, they will all show the same thing – that cancer in young women is becoming increasingly more common.

Overall with breast cancer every woman is at risk of developing the disease. Most people know somebody with the condition and it can be frightening thinking that it can happen to you. There are various things which you can do to decrease your chances of developing breast cancer but there is no guarantee that you will not get it. Breast cancer in younger women is a lot more aggressive than breast cancer in older women too so it can be a frightening thing getting diagnosed with breast cancer at such a young age.
